Dr. WEN holds many academic positions including: The Ministry of education “Chang Jiang Scholar Professor”,Member of the Instruction and Curriculum Committee of Sociology at the Chinese Ministry of Education, member of the Expert Panel of National Urban-Rural Community Development at the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs, Vice President of the Chinese Sociological Association, President of the Shanghai Sociological Association, Advisory Board Member of the China Association for Social Worker Education, and Vice President of the Shanghai Social Workers Association, among others. Dr. WEN's main research interests are in the areas of urban sociology, social policy and social development, sociological theory, social work theory. He has published many influential scholarly works, including over 200 journal articles and 20 books. In 2004‚ he wasawarded the first batchof the New Century Excellent Talents Awarded by the Chinese Ministry of Education. His representative works include such as Network Shadow: Problems and Countermeasures (2002); Inheritance and Innovation: Modernity, Globalization and the Transformation of Sociological Theory (2004); Western Sociological Theory: Classical Tradition and Contemporary Turning (2006); An International Comparative Studies of Social Work with Community-Youth (2008); Social Work Models: Theories and Applications(2010);and so on.
