Research Fields

Jiaxian Zhou is a professor and co-founder of the Center for Educational Neuroscience at the School of Psychology and Cognitive Science, East China Normal University. She set up the first Educational Neuroscience Program in China and teaches courses in Educational Neuroscience for undergraduates and graduates both in Chinese and English. Now she works with Stanislas Dehaene and Brian Wandell on how different writing systems affect the function and anatomy of the human brain with the tools of pRF, HARDI, Resting-MRI,etc.

She earned her doctorate by focusing her research on connecting Mind, Brain and Education at East China Normal University in 2004 and completed her first postdoctoral training with Qi Dong on educational neuroscience in 2008 at the State Key Lab of Cognitive Neuroscienceand Learning, Beijing Normal University, and second postdoctoral fellowships with Kurt W. Fischer on mind, brain and education at Harvard University in 2010.

She is PI of more than 20 national, provincial projects and published around 30 books as author, editor and translator. She also published  more than 80 papers, most of them are concerning with educational neuroscience. Because of her achievement, she  won a lot of prizes.
