Dr. Dou Weilin is a professor of the School of Foreign Languages at East China Normal University in Shanghai. She is also a member of such academic organizations as the Shanghai Education Directing Committee for the Master of Translation and Interpreting degree, the Cambridge University Linguistic Society, and the Standing Council of Chinese Discourse Research in the International Association of Intercultural Communication Studies. She has been a visiting scholar at the

University of Cambridge, Florida A & M University, St. Olaf Collegeand University of Illinois at Urbana and Chamnpaign. Her specialties lie in the fields of intercultural communicationand translation,international business communication, discourse analysisteaching of culture, language and translation. She has led several research projects sponsored by the National Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science, the National Office of Education Science Planning, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and the Shanghai Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science. She has published over 20 monographs, textbooks and translation works, as well as approximately 40 articles in national and international academic journals. She has more than 38 years of teaching experience at universities, taught various courses about intercultural communication studies to Ph.D. students, other postgraduate students, and undergraduate students as well as foreign exchange students.

She has over 35 years of teaching experience at universities, giving various courses of culture and communication studies to doctorial students, undergraduate students and postgraduate students.
