Research Fields

1.  Well-controlled supramolecular self-assembly

Taking advantage of the orthogonality of metal-ligand bonds and other noncovalent interactions, the research in our group focus on the development of hierarchical self-assembly approach involving coordination interactions for the precise esconstruction of diverse functional supramolecular assemblies with interesting stimuli-responsive properties and the further explorations on their applications in diverse fields such as supramolecular smart materials (Acc. Chem. Res. 201851, 2699; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2017139, 9459; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2018140, 5049; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2019141, 583; Chem 2020, 6, 2395; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 202160, 11789; J. Am. Chem. 2.  Supramolecular chemical topology

On the basis of the development of organometallic [2]rotaxanes, especially functional ones, the research in our group focus on the precise synthesis of diverse rotaxane-branched dendrimers as a novel type of mechanically bonded macromolecules with unique fractal topology and the further extension of their applications in diverse fields such as light harvesting, photocatalysis and soft actuators. In addition, we are also interested in the design and synthesis novel topologically chiral systems to explore the unique advantages of topological chirality and extend their applications in functional chiral materials and supramolecular catalysis etc. (Acc. Chem. Res. 2021, 54, 4091; Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA. 2015, 112, 5597; Nat. Commun. 2018, 9, 3190; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2019, 141, 13923; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2020, 142, 8473; Angew. Chem. Int. 3.  Supramolecular radicals and spin chemistry

The research in our group also focus on the applications of supramolecular chemistry in radical chemistry such as the investigations on the radical-radical interactions, the regulation of the stability of radicals, and the modulation of radical intermediates. In addition, we are also interested in the development of novel supramolecular radicals and the their further applications in spin chemistry and related fields (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2019, 141, 16014; J.
