EducationWorkExperienceResumeLU Yong studied physical chemistry and received his BS degree from Sichuan University in 1992 and his PhD degree from the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997. Following 2-year postdoctoral research, he was appointed to Senior Engineer in 2000 in the Research Institute of Petroleum Processing of SINOPEC. After another 4-year postdoctoral research in the National University of Singapore and Auburn University, he joined the faculty in the School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at the East China Normal University as a full professor in physical chemistry in 2004. He is engaged in the R&D of structured catalysts and reactors (SCRs) technology toward catalysis process intensification. This novel approach is paving a way towards ideal reactor design, especially for strongly endothermic or exothermic and/or high-throughput reaction processes. He proposed and practiced one-step, efficient non-dip-coating “Top-Down” SCRs design for the synergistic coupling of improved hydrodynamics and enhanced heat/mass transfer in the packed-bed reactor (Top) with the catalytic reaction on the catalyst surface (Down), using 3D metallic foam/fiber substrates rather than 2D microchannel-structured honeycombs. He is (co-) author of over 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals, editor of one book, (co-) author of 4 book chapters, holder of over 30 patents.
